Cold end to the workweek

THURSDAY: A secondary cold front has tracked through Mid-Missouri, bringing the return of cold conditions. Afternoon temperatures will hold steady in the mid 20s and then quickly drop off as we head into the evening. While clouds are sticking around this afternoon, by this evening we’ll begin to see some clearing skies. Wind chill values through the afternoon will be near 10 degrees, so bundle up as you head out the door.

TONIGHT: It will be the coldest night in the 7-day forecast as temperatures drop steadily through the overnight hours under clear skies. Low temperatures will drop just below 10 by daybreak with wind chills close to -5. Winds will be out of the north up to 12 mph.

EXTENDED: After a bitter cold start to the day, temperatures will only reach the low to mid 30s Friday afternoon with increasing clouds and light winds shifting to the south. Temperatures will briefly climb into the low 40s Saturday. There is a slight chance we’ll see some snow as we head into Saturday, but the overall picture is beginning to trend drier. If we see any form of precipitation, there will be a brief shot early Saturday morning and then as we head into the evening. At this time, little to no snow accumulation is expected through Saturday night. Another fast moving wave of low pressure will move through Sunday, bringing another chance of light snow. Sunday will be very cold, with highs only reaching the upper 20s and lower 30s, falling to near 10 Sunday night. This weekend kicks off a fairly active weather pattern that will lead into next week, with another chance of light snow Tuesday. Temperatures across the 7-day remain below average, with the exception of Saturday. Watch ABC 17 news and check back on our website for updates to your forecast.
