Jefferson City police arrest man accused of choking, threatening to kill woman

Jefferson City police arrested Robert Gibbs on Friday after officers responded to reports of domestic assault in the 700 block of Madison Street.

According to the probable cause statement, Gibbs choked a female victim and told her he was going to kill her for sending him back to prison.

Gibbs had previously served 120 days in prison for assaulting the woman.

The victim told police that Gibbs had also threatened to kill her over the phone.

Gibbs was also accused of grabbing the victim by her hip and slapping her on the right side of the face. Police said there was a a bruise on the woman’s left hip.

Police said Gibbs denied any assault but said that he and the victim did have some heated arguments.

Gibbs was charged with domestic assault and stalking.
