Columbia man charged with selling large amounts of methamphetamine
A Columbia man has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon after a SWAT team entered his house on Jan. 4.
ABC17 previously reported that Ralawndo Damar-Kelly Akers was arrested after officers served a narcotics search warrant at his home in the 1800 block of Parkade Boulevard.
Detectives found an ounce of methamphetamine, six firearms, ammunition, and firearm accessories.
According to the probable cause statement, Akers admitted to officers that he was involved in distributing narcotics. He said he would purchase 2-3 ounces of methamphetamine 2-3 times a week.
Police said Akers would use a variety of surveillance tactics to avoid detection and contact with law enforcement. He had 15 security cameras at his house and would use drones to attempt to locate and monitor law enforcement activity in the area.
Citizens also told officers that Akers would use paid lookouts to alert him of a police presence and movements in the area.
According to the probable cause statement, Akers is involved in the sale of large amounts of methamphetamine which poses a significant danger to the health and wellbeing of members of the community.
As of Monday, Akers was not in the Boone County Jail.
