Showers overnight, cooling weekend

TONIGHT: Winds will remain breezy through at least midnight, as a cold front tracks through Mid-Missouri. A line of spotty, light showers will move in after 9 PM from the northwest and track to the southeast to I-44 by daybreak. Most areas will see little to no rain with under a tenth inch. As the line gets closer to I-44, rain is more likely and could add up to a quarter inch along and south of the interstate. Following the rain, winds will subside and temperatures will cool into the mid to upper 30s for lows.

SATURDAY: Skies will become mostly sunny and temperatures will be cooler, but still above average for late January. High temperatures will reach the low to mid 50s with light westerly winds at 5-10 mph.

EXTENDED: After a cold morning with lows in the upper 20s, Sunday’s temperatures will climb to the mid to upper 40s with mostly sunny skies. The coldest air holds off until Sunday night into Monday as a secondary cold front tracks through the region. This frontal boundary will be moisture starved, so the chance of any precipitation is low. However, there is a low chance of snow flurries or brief light snow showers after 9 PM and overnight Sunday with little to no accumulation. Skies will turn mostly sunny and it will be cold Monday with high temperatures only reaching the low to mid 30s.The cold weather will stick around briefly, as another spring tease will take shape through the middle of next week. It will be a warmer end to January, with signs of colder conditions arriving just in time for February. Another cold front is set to track through Mid-Missouri Wednesday night into Thursday, which will bring cold air back to the region along with a chance of rain and snow Thursday.
