Former Walmart employee charged with stealing more than $2,000 from cash registers

A former Walmart employee has been charged with stealing more than $2,000 from cash registers.

According to the probable cause statement, Dorthelia Whitmore can be seen on Walmart security camera footage taking money from cash registers.

Walmart Asset Protection officials identified Whitmore as the person taking the money from the registers after discovering numerous shortages.

Columbia police said in the security footage, Whitmore can been see placing customer money into her pockets instead of the registers.

Officers said that Whitmore would not meet with them because she had already moved to St. Louis. She also told officers that she was planning on getting a new job at a Walmart in the St. Louis area.
