Man accused of embezzling thousands from University fraternity sentenced to 2 years in prison

A man who embezzled at least $380,500 from a University of Missouri fraternity was sentenced to two years in prison on Monday.

Burt Beard, 63, was also ordered to make restitution to the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Beard, who was the fraternity’s chapter treasurer for more than a decade, had pleaded guilty in September to bank fraud for embezzling the money.

President of the corporation that owns the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house, James Feuerbaher, said the building needed repairs during the time Beard was embezzling.
