Woman charged with failing to register as sex offender after using different identities on Facebook

A Callaway County woman has been charged with failing to register as a sex offender after officers learned of her multiple identities on social media.

According to the probable cause statement, Mary Ashing was previously convicted of statutory rape after an incident with a 12-year-old boy in 2009.

Deputies said in November, Ashing went to the sheriff’s department to verify her sex offender registration. Ashing confessed she was using the online identifier of “kaden parker” on Facebook.

Days later, Ashing told officers she had a new Facebook account. Ashing said she was using the online identifier of “maryashing90.”

Officers said that Ashing began using the new identity in November.

Ashing had previously been arrested for using the online identifier “Suzie Beers” without alerting authorities.

Deputies said sex offenders must notify the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of a new online identity before they can use it.

Ashing told officers that she had lost concept of time, which is why she failed to report the new identity.
