Two arrested after trying to flee and backing into Maries County deputy vehicle, deputies say

Maries County deputies arrested two people after they tried to flee during a traffic stop Monday night, according to a post on the Maries County Sheriff’s Facebook page.

The post said Maries County deputies made a traffic stop late Monday night at a private drive off Highway BB in Dixon, Missouri.

During the traffic stop, the driver, Anthony Beal, started backing up out of the driveway toward the deputies, forcing the deputies to back up to avoid getting hit by the truck, the post said. That’s when a corporal moved his vehicle to attempt to block the truck.

Deputies said Beal continued to reverse until he backed into the corporal’s patrol vehicle, and pulled forward again. The corporal struck the truck with his push bumper to stop Beal from getting onto the highway.

Deputies said Beal was then arrested for assault on law enforcement, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and property damage. Deputies said Beal was also out on parole for drug violations and tampering.

Deputies said they also arrested the passenger of the truck, Megan Carson, for active warrants out of Pulaski County and Dixon. They said Carson is expected to have new charges for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

According to the post, Beal was released on summons pending formal charges from prosecutors, and Carson was transferred to the Pulaski County Jail with no bond.
