Sedalia police identify persons of interest after apparent stabbing death

UPDATE 1/16: Sedalia Police say they have identified person(s) of interest and are following up on leads as they investigate the death of Heather McClellan.

Police posted the update on their Facebook account Tuesday. They say an initial investigation indicates McCellan died of apparent stab wounds, but say an autopsy to determine the actual cause of death is pending.

Police have not released the names of any persons of interest and it’s unclear if they’re ivestigating the death as a homicide.

Anyone with information on the death is asked to call the Sedalia Police Department to speak with Detective Jill Green at 660-827-7823, Ext. 1213.

ORIGINAL: Sedalia police are investigating a deadly assault that happened in the 400 block of East 7th Street on Sunday.

Police said they were dispatched to an assault with a weapon and when they arrived officers found 33-year-old Heather McClellan.

Officers said McClellan was given medical attention and transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center, where she later died from her injuries.

Police ask anyone who has information about the assault to contact Detective Jill Green at (660) 827-7823 ext. 1213.
