One man in custody after fleeing from traffic stop on I-70

Authorities took a man into custody after he allegedly ran from law enforcement during a traffic stop Saturday afternoon.

The Saline County Sheriff’s Department said Matthew Stephen Harris was taken into custody without incident around 3:30 p.m.

Harris was pulled over on I-70 eastbound just outside of Marshall around 1 p.m., then took off running southbound, according to the sheriff’s department.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Marshall Police Department assisted in the search for Harris.

Online court records show Harris was charged Thursday in Pettis County. According to a probable cause statement, Harris threatened a man with a gun and stole his car.
