Mild Wednesday, falling temperatures & wintry mix Thursday
TONIGHT: With low level moisture remaining in place mid-Missouri will see fog through the overnight hours with dense fog likely which will drop visibilities below a quarter mile. No freezing fog is expected, as lows will only fall to the upper 30s and low 40s. Some patchy drizzle is possible through the overnight hours with southeast winds near 10 mph.
WEDNESDAY: It will be the warmest day this week to get out and about with highs in the mid 50s for most of us with a few spots reaching towards 60. Patchy drizzle can’t be ruled out through the early morning hours Wednesday, but most locations will stay dry and breezy with southerly winds at 15-20 mph, gusting as high as 30 mph at times.
EXTENDED: An approaching cold front will bring a chance of rain late Wednesday night through early Thursday. Temperatures Wednesday night will remain above freezing so any precipitation will start off as rain. The front will track through the area by early Thursday, which will usher in much colder temperatures for the afternoon. Thursday’s high of 51 degrees will occur during the morning hours as temps drop below freezing through the day, which will allow any rain to transition to a wintry mix into the afternoon hours. Any accumulation of wintry mix would only add up to a glaze of ice and a dusting of snow late in the day Thursday. Arctic air sticks around through the weekend and we’ll be below freezing from Thursday afternoon through next Tuesday. We are watching a fast moving low pressure area that will quickly move through the area late Friday night into Saturday morning. This could allow for some brief snow showers across Mid-Missouri with possibly a dusting of snow. Watch ABC 17 news and check back on our website for the latest updates to your forecast.
