Governor Greitens to make second State of State address

Gov. Eric Greitens is gearing up for his second State of the State address scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.

This is Greitens’ second address to the Missouri General Assembly.

Last year didn’t offer too many surprises. In fact, is sounded very much like the kind of language he used on the campaign trail.

Greitens will likely touch on his favorite topics, boasting he fully funded k-12 education in the last budget and touting a strong economy with Missouri’s unemployment rate at 3.4 percent, lower than the national average of just above 4 percent.

He may credit right-to-work as one of the reasons behind the lower number, although the issue is set to go before voters later this year.

Greitens will likely cite President Donald Trump’s recent tax package as evidence to make his case for tax reform in Missouri.

Tort reform, liability, weterans care issues, highway repair and infrastructure, higher education funding and charter schools will most likely be in his script Wednesday night.

ABC 17 News has contacted mid-Missouri lawmakers from both sides of the aisle and will have their comments coming up on our later newscasts and here at abc17news.com.
