Columbia man charged after officers find packaged cocaine

A Columbia man has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance after officers found drugs and drug paraphernalia inside a house.

According to the probable cause statement, officers obtained a search warrant for a house in the 2300 block of Sears Court when they were looking for homicide suspect Ja’Vonne Dupree.

Police said when they were in the residence looking for evidence against Dupree, officers found pill bottles with Damon Harris’s name on them.

Officers said they also found a digital scale, a box of plastic bags and cocaine. The cocaine looked to be packaged with the intent of distributing it.

According to the probable cause statement, Harris has a history of failing to appear in court and has multiple prior narcotics arrests.
