Columbia man charged with unlawful use of a weapon, accused of shooting gun inside house

A Columbia man has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon after he was accused of shooting off a gun inside of a house in the 1400 block of Barnwood Drive.

According to the probable cause statement, police responded to the residence and Dshawn McDonald told officers there was a person in his attic who was refusing to leave. Officers later determined there was no one in the attic.

A woman told police that McDonald became upset with her because he thought she allowed people in the attic, and then smacked her in the mouth.

The woman also told police that McDonald had shot a bullet in the ceiling because he thought someone was up there.

Officers said that there were four children inside of the residence at the time of the altercation.

Police said that they saw a small cut to the left side of the woman’s lip and a small hole in the ceiling of the living room.

The woman told police that McDonald has hit her in the past and caused her to have a black eye.
