Columbia Public Schools to start at normal time for students’ first day back
Columbia Public Schools superintendent Peter Stiepleman sent out a tweet Wednesday night, saying the district would operate on a normal schedule Thursday, which is students’ first day back from their winter break.
The announcement comes despite a wind chill advisory being issued for Boone County, which is set to expire at noon Thursday.
According to Stiepleman, transportation will not be a challenge, as there is no snow or ice on the roads.
He also said buildings are ready, after reported water line breaks were repaired.
But Stiepleman also reminded families that they will want to make sure kids are bundled up while waiting for their buses, as wind chills could reach 10 to 15 degrees below zero.
