When will we warm back above freezing?

2017 ended on a cold note, which has carried into the new year. As of January 1st we have been below freezing for 9 straight days and will continue in this cold weather trend for at least 4 or 5 more days. A reinforcing cold front will arrive on our doorstep by Thursday, which will allow for another surge of Arctic air to filter into the area.

However by this weekend, we look to modify. It will be a gradual warm up through the end of the week, but more seasonal temperatures are on the way. Friday expect highs in the 20s, Saturday highs in the 30s, and then eventually by Sunday highs will be in the 40s.

Along with these warmer temperatures on Sunday, we are looking at a chance for some much needed rain. The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team will continue to track thawing temperatures and rain chances into the weekend.
