No one hurt in two early morning Columbia fires

The Columbia Fire Marshal is investigating two early morning house fires in central Columbia.

Firefighters were first called to the 800 block of Sixth Street just after 1 a.m. Sunday.

Assistant Chief Brad Fraizer said crews found heavy smoke coming from the home when they arrived. The home was significantly damaged in the fire, but no one was hurt.

Fraizer said a damage estimate was not available as of Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters were then called to the 100 block of West Worley Street for a fire. Fraizer said firefighters found the fire in the basement of the home. No one was hurt.
