Bitterly Cold As We Head Into the New Year

SATURDAY: Bitterly cold air moves in Saturday, dropping our temperatures into the single digits by afternoon as northerly winds increase to 10-15 mph. Wind chills during the day will dip as low as 10 below zero. Skies will remain mostly cloudy.

SATURDAY NIGHT : That northerly wind will bring our temperatures all the way down to around 0 degrees. We have a wind chill advisory for our viewing area taking effect at 6:00 PM and lasting through noon on Tuesday. Wind chills will be 15 degrees below zero for most of us and some spots even colder than that.

EXTENDED: We’ll stay in the single digits all day long Sunday with mostly cloudy skies. Some snow flurries are possible but at this time, no measurable snow is expected. As we ring in 2018, temperatures will be near 0, dropping as low as 10 below zero by Monday morning with dangerous wind chills as low as 30 below zero. The arctic air hangs around much of next week with sub-freezing temperatures possible through next Thursday. Watch ABC17 News for the newest forecast and check back here for updates.
