Phelps County deputies arrest man in connection to deadly shooting
Phelps County deputies arrested a St. James man on Sunday in connection to a shooting in the 1700 block of County Road 3520.
Deputies said when they responded to the shooting they found, Tanya Johnson, 34, who was taken to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center for a gunshot wound.
Johnson was flown to University Medical Center in Columbia and later pronounced dead.
Deputies said they learned that Dallas Hogue, 26, was present during the shooting but was also a convicted felon and in possession of a firearm.
Hogue was arrested and faces possible charges of unlawful possession of a firearm with a bond set at $50,000.
Officers said an autopsy was performed on Monday and the cause of Johnson’s death was determined to be a single gunshot wound to the upper torso. However, the manner of death has yet to be determined.
The investigation is on-going.
