Columbia police arrest man accused of obstructing government operations

Columbia police arrested Jordan Beers on Friday after he ignored their call to leave a house where officers had taken a suspect into custody.

Police said they were investigating an incident in the 1400 block of Greensboro Drive on Friday when they received information that a person may be in the residence along with the suspect officers had initially responded to the residence for.

ABC17 previously reported that police had responded to Greensboro Drive on Friday for an armed man experiencing a mental health crisis.

Police said after they took the primary suspect into custody, they ordered anyone inside the house to exit the residence but no one came out.

Officers said they found Beers in a bedroom inside the residence.

Beers faces possible charges of obstructing government operations.
