Snow Today, Cold Weather Ahead

SUNDAY: The snow that we see early Sunday morning will last until about the noon hour, with clouds holding until 3pm when we will see the sun begin to peek through. Travel impacts look to be contained along and north of I-70, but if you are traveling in the southern portions of the viewing area, continue you to stay on guard if you are out. Accumulations look to be fairly minor, but will increase the farther north that you go– 1-3″ for our far northern counties, with lesser amounts south of I-70, where we will see mainly a dusting to an inch.

SUNDAY NIGHT : Skies will clear this evening into the overnight hours, which will allow us to cool off to the mid to upper teens. The wind chill will be in the low teens to possibly even single digits overnight.

EXTENDED: Christmas Day looks dry but cold with high temperatures in the low to mid 30s. Temperatures will continue to stay very cold throughout the week, with some of the coldest air of the season arriving by mid-week. We are tracking another quick moving system Wednesday night and into Thursday which brings with it the chance for a few snow showers. The main feature, however, is the cold, and it will be sticking around with us into the new year.
