Rainy Sunday with a mild & dry week ahead.

SUNDAY: If you’re headed out the door this morning, make sure to bring your umbrella. We’re finally going to be seeing some much needed rain across the region throughout the early part of the day. Rain will come to an end the afternoon, with overcast skies prevailing into the evening. Rainfall amounts will range anywhere from trace amounts north of I-70 to a quarter inch south. This is certainly not enough to alleviate our drought but will help settle the dust a bit. Sunday will be slightly cooler, with highs climbing into the upper 40s and winds out of the southwest up to 12 mph.

MONDAY: We will see slow clearing throughout the day as the storm system that brought us our rain on Sunday will slowly be exiting the area. We will be mostly cloudy throughout the morning, with breaks into sunshine by the afternoon hours. Our temperatures will be pleasant in the middle 50s, and it will be a good day to get in any outdoor activities. Winds should remain light, out of the south at 5-10mph.

EXTENDED: Temperatures will continue to be mild throughout region all the way through Thursday, unfortunately, this will also mean a return to a dry pattern across Mid-Missouri. A pattern which will only allow the drought conditions to worsen. There is signs though as we head into the coming days that we’ll finally tap into more moisture, which will help the very dry conditions. A cold front moving through Thursday night will bring a slight chance of rain and snow and drop temperatures considerably for Friday with highs only in the 30s to end the work week.
