Mizzou basketball tops 2016-17 win total after victory over North Florida

The Mizzou basketball team won just eight games during the 2016-17 season. The Tigers surpassed that total with an 85-51 win over North Florida tonight.

After the win, the Tigers improve to 9-2 (0-0 SEC) with just two games remaining before conference play.

Jordan Barnett led the scoring by finishing with 18 points and 11 rebounds. As a team, the Tigers shot 40 percent from three and 51 percent from the field. Mizzou had five different players finish in double figures.

The Tiger defense dominated holding the Ospreys to just 31 percent shooting. North Florida was just 5-28 from beyond the three-point line.

Despite an early 6-5 deficit three minutes into the game, the Tigers stormed away on an 11-point run holding a double-digit lead for the rest of the game.

Jontay Porter finished with six points, five assists and 10 rebounds while Jeremiah Tilmon had 10 points and five rebounds.

Mizzou’s next matchup is against Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. SF Austin is 10-1 and coming off an 83-82 win over LSU tonight.
