UPDATE: Troopers name man killed in vehicle crash on Hwy 63

UPDATE – 3:20 pm: Troopers said Aaron Meeks, 33, from Holts Summit was killed in the Highway 63 crash on Thursday morning.

According to the traffic crash report, Meeks’s Dodge Charger was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the back of the dump truck.

Troopers said the dump truck had moderate damage.

UPDATE – 9:42 a.m.: The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirms the driver of the Dodge Charger was not wearing a seatbelt and speeding was likely a factor.

Investigators say one lane of Hwy 63 will be closed for several more hours, while crews still do a crash investigation.

UPDATE – 7:55 a.m.: The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrived on-scene to conduct a detailed crash analysis on Hwy 63 near Zumwalt Road.

UPDATE – 7:10 a.m.: Emergency crews confirmed one person was killed in a multi-car collision in southern Boone County Thursday morning.

It happened in the northbound lanes of on Hwy 63 near Zumwalt Road just after 6:30 a.m.

The crash involved a dump truck and a smaller vehicle.

One northbound lane of Highway 63 is shut down as crews work to clear the scene.

ORIGINAL: The Southern Boone County Fire Protection District and the University Hospital Ambulance Service responded to a motor vehicle collision on Hwy 63 near Zumwalt Road Thursday morning.

The report said it happened on the northbound lane of the highway just after 6:30 a.m.

It happened just south of a separate incident on Hwy 63 near Route A.

Safety crews advise drivers to use caution when traveling through the area.
