UPDATE: Man arrested after Columbia woman assaulted on Apple Tree Court
UPDATE 12/6: Aidan Murphy has been charged with burglary, robbery and possession of a controlled substance after the incident on Apple Tree Court.
According to the probable cause statement, Murphy stole the victim’s purse and backpack but police were able to recover the stolen items behind a building a block away.
Police said Murphy had previously texted the victim threatening to kick her door in.
Murphy has also been charged with attempted burglary in the first degree from the incident on Anita Court in November.
According to the probable cause statement, Murphy attempted to enter into an apartment by repeatedly kicking it.
Police said a witness held the door closed preventing Murphy from coming in.
The victim told officers that Murphy was threatening to kill her.
Police said Murphy also had taken a large rock and broken the windshield of the victim’s car.
UPDATE 9:50 am: Columbia police arrested Aidan Murphy, 21, in connection to the home invasion.
Police said three occupants were inside the residence when Murphy and another male forced entry. Murphy had a firearm and struck the female victim in the face.
Officers said Murphy was able to get some property before fleeing the area.
When Murphy returned to the residence for the second time, officers were able to arrest him. Police said Murphy had brass knuckles and 2.94 grams of methamphetamine.
Murphy faces possible charges of armed criminal action, robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.
Police also said Murphy is believed to be connected to a disturbance that occurred in November in the 200 block of Anita Court.
Murphy also faces possible charges burglary, property damage and domestic assault.
Police said the second suspect in the home invasion has not been arrested at this time and the investigation is on-going.

UPDATE 5 a.m.: Columbia police said they arrested a man Tuesday morning after responding to the same residence on Apple Tree Court twice.
Police initially responded to Apple Tree Court around 12:45 a.m. for reports of a woman being assaulted.
Police were called back to the residence around 4:10 a.m. for reports that the suspect who committed the assault returned.
Police were able to arrest the man after the second response.

ORIGINAL: Columbia police responded to a call about a woman being assaulted overnight.
When police arrived on the scene of Apple Tree Court, they saw two black males running to Southampton Drive.
From Southampton Drive, officers saw the two men get into a vehicle and drive away.
As of 1:45 a.m., detectives were on the scene talking to the victim and collecting evidence.
The victim suffered minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital.
