UPDATE: One killed after multiple crashes north of Columbia
UPDATE – 7:30 a.m.: Boone County fire officials confirmed new information about a series of three crashes north of Columbia Monday morning:
1) Just before 6 a.m., Boone County fire crews were called to Route B and Academy Road for a head-on crash involving two vehicles. One driver was pronounced dead at the scene, the other driver was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
2) Shortly after 6 a.m., Boone County Fire Protection District, the Columbia Fire Department and University Hospital Ambulance Service were called to a single car crash on Hwy HH near Rogers road. Crews told ABC 17 News that a car had driven off the side of the road, injuring no one.
3) While responding to the crash on Hwy HH, a Boone County Sheriff deputy and a volunteer firefighter were involved in a rollover crash on Route B near Flamingo Drive. The deputy was taken to the hospital only as a precaution and the volunteer firefighter was not injured.

ORIGINAL: Emergency crews responded to a series of crashes near the area of Route B Monday morning.
The Boone County Fire Protection District sent workers to Route B and Academy Road and closed a lane there just before 6 a.m.

All lanes of Academy Road were since reopened.
The county then responded to Hwy HH and Rogers Road less than 15 minutes later for another traffic incident report.
Crews on scene told ABC 17 News one car drove off the road and it is not being referred to as a “crash.”
Less than 10 minute later, crews were called to Route B and Flamingo Drive for a reported crash.
