Boone County deputies arrest felon after finding multiple firearms

UPDATE 11/30: Hanton has been charged with five counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Hanton’s case is set for initial arraignment on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

Hanton’s bond is currently set at $100,000.

ORIGINAL STORY: Boone County deputies arrested Lairree Hanton Jr. on Wednesday morning after officers and the department’s SWAT team served a search warrant at his residence in the 700 block of Demaret Drive.

Deputies said Hanton was seen discarding a pistol outside his apartment.

Officers said they found another pistol, three rifles and ammunition inside Hanton’s apartment.

Hanton has five felony convictions dating back to 2001 for offenses including persistent driving while intoxicated and driving under revocation.

Hanton is in the Boone County Detention Center facing possible charges of unlawful possession of a firearm with his bail set at $22,500.

According to the landlord of the building, Hanton is not listed on the lease for the apartment where he had been staying.
