Camden County sheriff’s department falls victim to cyber attack

The Camden County Sheriff Department was unable to post to its department Facebook page Wednesday night due to a cyber attack on the agency’s network.

Lt. Arlyne Page with the sheriff’s department posted the following message on the department’s page:

“We are unable to post to the County Facebook page unless I use my personal administrative rights through my phone due to recent cyber attack on sheriff’s department network. Our IT people are working around the clock to remedy the situation. Please be patient. We will be posting soon.”

In September 2016, the FBI investigated an apparent county-wide government IT data breach, which shut down the sheriff’s department phone line as well as the county’s website.
