Phelps County deputies arrest man accused of abandoning corpse

The Phelps County Sheriff’s Department arrested Michael Garrison, 40, after deputies investigated the case of a woman found dead, lying in a ditch.

Deputies said, in January, officers responded to County Road 3000 and County Road 3220 regarding the deceased woman.

The victim was identified as Kayla Wilson, 25, and an autopsy determined her death was due to an accidental overdose, deputies said.

The investigation later revealed that Garrison and another man were responsible for abandoning Wilson in the ditch.

Garrison was arrested on Tuesday and faces possible charges of abandoning a corpse.

Garrison was taken to the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, where he later posted bail.
