Warm weather pattern now, changes next week

This will be a good weekend to take advantage of the unseasonably mild weather and get the outdoor holiday decorating done before the weather pattern turns colder. If you’re planning on getting the Christmas tree this weekend, the weather looks good both days to get it home.

We are in an unseasonably mild weather pattern which will last through next Tuesday. A ridge of high pressure aloft is shifting to the east and building north, which will cause temperatures to warm as air under this ridge sinks. As a result, our weather will feel like spring with high temperatures reaching near 60 this weekend and into the low to mid 60s to start the week.

Normally this time of year we are in a zonal air flow aloft, meaning a west to east flow with waves moving through occasionally. These upper waves can deepen and become more amplified, carrying in colder air from the north and better chances of precipitation. It looks like this pattern will start to emerge for the start of December, giving us better chances of rain. Temperatures through December 8th will be variable but are still expected to come in above average as colder air behind cold fronts will quickly modify with shifting winds.
