Columbia police arrest man accused of choking and kicking a woman

Columbia police arrested Phillip Henry on Sunday night after officers were dispatched to a physical disturbance in the 1700 block of Garden Drive.

The victim told police on Saturday, Henry assaulted her by choking her to the point she could not breath, causing her to pass out, and strike her head on the ground.

The victim also told police on Sunday, Henry assaulted her again by striking her in the face with an open hand, throwing her to the ground and kicking her in the ribs and face.

Police said they saw a bruise and lump on the victim’s forehead.

Henry was arrested and faces possible charges of domestic assault.
