Boone County inmate accused of flooding part of jail after flushing laundry down toilet

Boone County jail inmate Justin Todd was charged with damaging jail property after deputies received reports of vandalism at the jail.

According to the probable cause statement, an inmate did not get his laundry on Thursday after turning it in for cleaning.

Deputies said inmate Robert Crowley was seen on camera taking clean laundry in a jail bag up to Todd’s cell and putting it under his door.

Crowley told officers the clean laundry was Todd’s, but Todd had not turned in laundry, deputies said.

Deputies said they searched Todd’s cell and found no laundry.

On Friday, a section of the jail flooded due to laundry in the pipes after the laundry was flushed down a cell toilet, officers said.

According to the probable cause statement, the flooding caused between $1,000 and $6,000 in damage.

Deputies said they recovered the laundry and a bag that had the initials of the inmate that reported his clothes missing.
