Columbia police, fire investigating car fire in central Columbia

The Columbia Police Department and Columbia Fire Department are investigating the cause of a vehicle catching on fire early Saturday morning, police said.

According to online dispatch records, firefighters were called to the 1500 block of Worley Street just before 5 a.m.

Police and firefighters blocked off an area near Clinkscales Road and Worley Street to investigate.

Police said the car that was on fire was the only vehicle that sustained damage, and the houses next to the car didn’t appear to be damaged.

Police also said no one was injured.

Police and a fire marshal have not yet concluded if the car was intentionally set on fire.
