Columbia’s hotel lodging tax creating some revenue

Columbia voters approved a hotel lodging tax in 2016, and now the city has specific numbers about how much that tax is bringing in.

So far in 2017, the city has collected $452,740. Here is the amount brought in, broken down by month.

February: $36,524

March: $44,639

April: $54,991

May: $51,325

June: $55,645

July: $64,848

August: $72,851

September: $71,914

The tax was designed to generate funds for building a new terminal at the Columbia Regional Airport.
