Boone County deputies arrest man accused of resisting arrest, causing injury to officers

Boone County deputies arrested Dushane Griffith on Wednesday after they pulled his car over for no license plate light.

According to the probable cause statement, the license plates on the car came back to a truck.

Deputies said when they walked over to the car, they could smell marijuana. Griffith told officers there was no weed and no guns in the car.

Officers said they searched the vehicle and found the glovebox to be locked. Griffith was holding the keys to the car and refused to turn them over to deputies so they could search the glovebox.

Deputies said they tried to take Griffith into custody but he resisted arrest and a struggle began.

Deputies said two officers received cuts from the fight.

After deputies were able to take Griffith into custody, they got the keys to the glovebox and found a pistol.

According to the probable cause statement, Griffith is a convicted felon and not allowed to have a gun and a known gang member.

Griffith was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and assault.
