Moniteau County man accused of beating a child waives preliminary hearing, heads to trial

A Moniteau County man has waived his preliminary hearing and is heading to trial after he was accused of beating a child.

Deputies say Chris Salzman is responsible for injuries caused to a young child. He allegedly assaulted the child Feb. 28. Law enforcement says the injuries were consistent with being shaken, and left the child with multiple brain bleeds and a broken arm.

Salzman was charged with domestic assault and child abuse. He could potentially face up to 30 years in jail for the charges.
