Man still in critical condition after early November crash on I-70

University Hospital officials confirmed on Tuesday that Johnny Spain, one occupant of a car that crashed on I-70 earlier in November is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Columbia police said the crash happened when a car was traveling westbound on I-70 near the 123.4 mile marker in the inside lane at a high rate of speed.

Police said the car attempted to switch lanes to the outside lane at a high rate of speed and the driver lost control and ran off the roadway to the right.

The vehicle went down into a culvert and began to roll, police said. Both occupants were ejected out of the car and transported to a hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries, police said.

Another occupant, Monica King, was discharged from the hospital, officials said.
