Boone County woman charged with DWI after crashing twice, leaving scene of accident

A Boone County woman has been charged with DWI with a persistant offender enhancement and leaving the scene of an accident after rear-ending two vehicles while drunk and trying to leave the scene of the crashes, according to police.

Wendy Morgan was charged on Wednesday after the October crash.

Police said officers were first called to a leaving the scene of a crash call near US 63 and Clark Lane.

The investigation revealed Morgan rear-ended the vehicle in front of her then kept driving after the victim pulled over.

Police say Morgan then hit a second vehicle from the rear on northbound US 63 causing significant damage and forcing that vehicle off the roadway.

Officers say Morgan kept driving for about another 1,000 feet after that crash before pulling over. However, police say Morgan was trying to leave the scene again when they got there.

Police say they arrested Morgan after smelling alcohol. They arrested Morgan on suspicion of felony driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

According to the complaint, Morgan is a persistent DWI offender. She was charged with DWIs in 1982 and 1979 in Boone County.

Both vehicles Morgan hit had damage of more than $1,000, according to the complaint.
