JC Penney’s employee arrested on suspicion of stealing more than $750 from store
Columbia police arrested Asia Hightire on Monday afternoon after officers were dispatched to JC Penney’s in reference to a larceny.
Police said the investigation revealed on multiple occasions Hightire stole several items from the business exceeding $750.
On one occasion, Hightire bagged several items and was approached by management as she was leaving. Hightire could not show proof of purchase for those items, police said.
Officers said loss prevention personnel was able to review surveillance footage and show Hightire had stolen several other items on various days.
Hightire was arrested and faces possible charges of felony stealing.
