Rain and storm chance Sunday as cooler air moves in

TODAY: Skies will remain mostly cloudy with an increasing chance of showers through the day as temperatures reach the low 50s north of I-70 to the lower 70s south near I-44. A cold front will move south through the day with winds shifting to the north and increasing up to 15 mph as cooler air moves in. There is a chance of storms but mainly east of HWY 63 and south of I-70 early in the afternoon but the chance is low. Any storms that develop could strengthen and become strong to severe. Any severe storms would be isolated and bring a large hail or damaging wind threat. Rainfall amounts will stay light, under a quarter inch.

TONIGHT: Northwesterly winds of 10-15 mph will decrease slowly through the night as cooler air moves in under mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures will drop into the lower 30s north of HWY 24, to the upper 30s near I-70 and lower 40s south to I-44. The wind will bring wind chills down as low as the upper 20s to lower 30s by morning.

EXTENDED: It will be a chilly start to the work week with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s Monday under mostly cloudy skies. Moisture will increase from the south Monday night, bringing a slight chance of rain to areas south of HWY 50. Overnight lows Monday will drop into the upper 30s and Tuesday looks chilly, only reaching the upper 40s. It will be colder Tuesday and Wednesday nights as we drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s. There is another chance of rain Wednesday south of I-70 with high temperatures in the upper 40s. We’ll warm back into the 50s for the end of the week with another chance of rain next Saturday as another cold front moves through.Watch ABC17 news for the latest forecast and follow ABC17 Stormtrack on Twitter for updates.
