Jefferson City police arrest man accused of stealing from his place of employment

Jefferson City police arrested Harold Edwards on Monday after officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East McCarty Street on an employee theft at Mr. Convenience.

According to the probable cause statement, a witness told police Edwards had been stealing money from the business after he reviewed video footage showing Edwards void out a sale of merchandise and then take cash from the customer.

Police said at the end of the evening Edwards took cash from the register, walked out of camera view and returned shortly afterwards.

The witness told officers that after reviewing multiple days, he observed Edwards take over $750 from the store.

Police said when they talked to Edwards he denied the allegations; when officers presented Edwards with the evidence, Edwards said he would have to review the video footage.
