Jefferson City police arrest man accused of leaving the scene of an accident, having drugs

Jefferson City police arrested James Egbert after he left the scene of an accident.

According to the probable cause statement, Egbert backed into another car causing apparent damage to the front-driver quarter panel.

Police said Egbert then backed into another car causing apparent damage to the rear-passenger quarter panel.

Egbert left the parking lot and drove on Schotthill Woods Drive before he was stopped by witnesses, police said.

Officers said they searched Egbert’s car and found 25 grams of marijuana and two digital scales.

Witnesses told police it was evident Egbert was aware he had backed into two cars.

Egbert was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, possession of marijuana and owning or operating a motor vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility.
