Callaway County deputies arrest man accused of escaping custody during narcotics investigation

The Callaway County Sheriff’s Department arrested Aramis Curtis after they were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle parked on County Road 262 early Monday morning.

Deputies said they found the vehicle and made contact with Curtis. While talking with Curtis, officers detected evidence of criminal activity and detained him, deputies said.

While conducting an investigation, Curtis fled into a wooded area, deputies said.

Deputies said a K-9 team was brought in and the search continued through woods, creeks and into a field where the unit located Curtis.

Deputies said they found two loaded pistols, one of which was stolen, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia used in the sale and distribution of a controlled substance.

Curtis was arrested, taken to the Callaway County Jail and had a bond set for $50,000 cash only.

Curtis was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, escape from custody while under arrest for felony and unlawful use of a weapon.
