Maries County officers arrest man accused of being a chronic DWI offender

Maries County deputies arrested Jerry Cook after officers pulled Cook over on Saturday for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

According to the probable cause statement, Cook is considered a chronic offender after he was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter-vehicular intoxication for events occurring in April 1995. Cook was also found guilty of driving while intoxicated on three other occasions.

Deputies said when they attempted to pull over Cook, he attempted to flee.

Cook was failing to keep a careful lookout and struck the rear of another vehicle, deputies said.

Officers also said Cook left the place of the accident without stopping.

Cook was arrested and charged with DWI- chronic, resisting/interfering with arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and operating a vehicle in a careless,imprudent manner.
