Man charged with endangering the welfare of a child, accused of spanking child with cutting board

A Cole County man has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Schott Road for a well being check.

According to the probable cause statement, a mother had called deputies after she received pictures of bruises on one of her children.

Deputies said they made contact with the victim and the victim’s sister, who told officers their father, Christian Fierro, had spanked the victim the previous night for acting out in church.

The victim told deputies that Fierro had struck him on the buttocks more than seven times with a “cutting board.”

Deputies said they saw two large bruises on both of the victim’s buttocks.

Fierro admitted to disciplining the victim with a board, deputies said.

The victim told deputies it was not the first time Fierro had hit him.
