Law enforcement agencies recieve largest collection of prescription drugs in take back event

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department reports during the Prescription Drug Take Back event over the weekend it resulted in the largest collection of unwanted and no longer needed medications since the event began in 2010.

Deputies said there were seven collection sites spread throughout Boone County.

These are the list of locations the event was held at and the amount of unwanted drugs they recieved:

The VA Hospital in Columbia -143 pounds

The University of Missouri Student Center – 23 pounds

Hickman High School – 361.6 pounds

Rockbridge High School – 164.8 pounds

The Ashland Police Department – 114.6 pounds

The Centralia Police Department – 79.6 pounds

The Hallsville Police Department – 44.2 pounds

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department – 41 pounds

All medications will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for proper disposal.
