Holts Summit woman seriously injured in Cole County crash; driver suspected of DWI

A 20-year-old Tuscumbia woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after crashing her car and seriously injuring her passenger.

Emergency responders were called to the crash on Route B just south of the Moreau River around 2:50 a.m.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the driver, Kendra Vaughan, went off the right side of the road and hit a concrete traffic barrier. Her passenger, Amy McDonald, 20, of Holts Summit, was ejected from the car.

McDonald was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Troopers said Vaughan refused medical treatment at the scene.

Vaughan was arrested on suspicion of DWI resulting in physical injury, minor in possession, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
