Bus changes start Monday for Go COMO transit riders

Starting Monday, bus riders can expect some changes to start their week.

In order to balance the transit system for fiscal year 2018, the Columbia City Council voted back in September to eliminate some bus routes. City transit said in the past that if they didn’t make any cuts or raise rates, the department would be broke by 2020.

City manager Mike Matthes’ budget offered $558,000 in cuts to the bus system.

Pink Route

This route is being replaced with a limited Flex Route service in areas which were previously covered by the pink route.

The Go COMO bus will operate from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday. Customers should call 573-874-7524 at least 24 hours in advance to book a ride.

The customer will be transported to a transfer spot, that will allow you to access the Gold or Blue route- which will allow access to the rest of the system.

Dark Green Route

This route is being removed, but the stops will be included on the black route and light green route.

Brown, Orange, Light Green, Purple Routes

These routes will remain the same but will run less often. They will run on an off-peak schedule all day Monday- Friday, similar to the midday and Saturday Schedules.

Aqua Route

This route will remain but will be an extension of the brown route.

Blue Route

This route will travel to Battle High School twice a day.
