A cold start to the day, warmer Sunday afternoon highs

TODAY: Temperatures will start off below freezing and be quick to climb into the mid 50s. Sunny skies will be around for the first part of the day, with building clouds into the afternoon. Southwesterly wind will persist through the day up to 11 mph.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies will be prominent tonight with a low near 40. Winds will shift out of the northwest after midnight around 6 mph as yet another cold front drops into mid-Missouri.

EXTENDED: Another cold front moves in late Sunday and early Monday morning bringing a chance for sprinkles and another surge of cooler air. This will keep us in the upper 40s Monday and only in the mid to upper 40s for Halloween. We are watching for the possibility of showers Tuesday night after 7 PM into Wednesday morning as moisture moves in from the southwest. The greatest threat for rain will be through the night Tuesday into Wednesday morning. For now it looks like the bulk of the activity looks to be along and south of I-70, with a few spot showers north. There is still some uncertainty on how far north the rain will develop and we will have updates and more details as new data comes in. Temperatures through the middle of next week will slowly warm into the low to mid 60s, with it feeling more seasonable across Mid-Missouri.
