Lit cigarette sets car on fire in Columbia

No one was injured when a car caught fire early Saturday, police said.

Columbia police and firefighters went to the 900 block of College Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a vehicle on fire.

Police at the scene said the car caught fire after someone dropped a lit cigarette inside it.

Investigators do not believe the cause of the fire was suspicious.

The amount of damage done to the car has not yet been released.
